The whole concept of HVAC units can be a bit overwhelming to most homeowners. This is something you must do your homework on. That said, there is a wealth of information that will help you to understand all about the subject.
What do you need done? Know this before calling a contractor. You might not be able to get a price quote unless you let the contractor see your current system first. You need to know how to describe any issues. You need to know this before you begin.
Clean your condenser’s fan blades and coils come spring. Make sure your power is off before doing more than cleaning, such as working on the unit. If you see debris, get rid of it.
Each spring it’s time to clean the inside of your condenser unit, including the fan and the sensitive coil. First, make sure the power is off to ensure nothing moves while you are working. Pull out each of the blades and clean them one by one.
Make sure that you do not cover your outdoor components with grass clippings when you are trimming the grass. When you work with your lawn mower, make sure it spits the grass to the side opposite of your unit. Also do this when blowing leaves or shoveling snow.
As you notice the tress begin to lose their leaves, keep an eye on your outdoor condenser unit. When you see nearby trees shedding their leaves, clean the fan grill on your unit constantly. An obstruction, such as a leaf, prevents the maximum amount of cool air from entering the system.
When selecting a location for an outdoor compressor, opt for a shady area, if possible. Your unit won’t have to work as hard to cool the inside air if the outside air it sucks from is cooler.
Your system should be checked twice a year. This should be checked often for debris and malfunctions. Whether you know of problems or not, good maintenance will help you to avoid future issues.
Understanding how to work with the HVAC unit should be more apparent to you know. It can be tough to get going if you lack motivation, so keep your interest level high. This will ensure you great success.
