Most people are not happy when their HVAC unit breaks during a cold winter or hot summer day. Learning about your HVAC system will help you choose the right person to repair it. Read on to do just that.
Clean the coils and blades in your condenser at the beginning of summer. Before you do clean the coils and fan blades, always take the precaution of turning off all power to the unit. The outside condenser unit should be kept free of leaves and other debris.
If you have condenser units outside your home, be sure to clean out the debris from them often. Wind can pile up all sorts of debris against its grill. The whole thing can overheat, causing major problems and possibly an enormous expense for you.
Each spring, clean the fan blades and coils on your condenser. For safety, always turn the power off first. Then you need to get the grill popped off and get the blades out so you can clean them and your unit gently.
Grass Clippings
Don’t get grass clippings on your outside unit. Direct the grass clippings in a direction away from the HVAC unit. The same thing should go on when you blow leaves, so take your time when you’re working around HVAC units that are around when you’re blowing debris around.
If your fan condenser has oil ports, you must lubricate it once per year. A rubber or metal cap is typically placed over such ports. Put 10 drops of lightweight, non-detergent SAE oil in each port. Be careful not to use too much.
Look for shade when placing a compressor outdoors. When the unit sucks in cooler air, then less work is required to cool it further which in turn boosts the units efficiency.
Engaging in HVAC professional services may be overwhelming without proper information. With the right information, it doesn’t have to be that bad. Now, hopefully are feeling prepared to get help as soon as you can when you have a problem with your HVAC systems.
